Home Organizing
-
Once you contact RoomWorks, we’ll schedule a time to meet and discuss what you’d like to accomplish, what isn’t working now, and where you could use support. During your in-home consultation, we’ll walk through the spaces together, learn about your needs, priorities, lifestyle, and goals, and discuss the challenges you’re experiencing. From there, we’ll recommend an approach tailored to your home and determine the right level of support for your project.
-
Absolutely not! Our approach is always supportive and non-judgemental, and the goal isn’t to create an empty house or convince you to part with things you value. We’ll help you make thoughtful decisions about what you use, need and enjoy, then create a home for those things that work best for your life now. Remember- the final decision about what stays or goes always belongs to you!
-
We can help determine the appropriate next step for items you’re ready to let go of and coordinate donations, disposal, or referrals to estate sale and liquidation resources when appropriate. Getting unwanted items out of the house is an important part of completing the organizing or downsizing process!
-
Yes. We treat everything we see and learn in your home with discretion and confidentiality. This includes personal documents, financial information, family matters, household routines, and other private information. We conduct our work with integrity, respect, and without judgment and adhere to the professional standards and Codes of Ethics of NAPO and NASMM.
-
Not necessarily. Some clients prefer to be involved throughout the process, while others are comfortable giving us direction and letting us work independently. We’ll discuss your preferences during the consultation and tailor our approach accordingly. For some projects, you may even be able to step away and return when it’s time to review the results.
-
Yes! RoomWorks can simplify preparing your home for sale and moving to your next residence. We provide practical support, thoughtful guidance, and hands-on assistance to make the process more manageable.
We can help prepare your home for the market by creating a more organized, inviting presentation and identifying areas that may need attention before listing. We also work closely with your real estate professional to help coordinate the process.
Whether you need downsizing, organizing, or move management, we can help sort and edit belongings, determine what will work in your new home, prepare for packing, coordinate with movers, and other professionals, and assist with unpacking and resettling.
-
Yes. When appropriate, RoomWorks can research, recommend, source, and implement organizing products and storage solutions. Products are selected based on the space, your belongings, your preferences, and how you want the area to function. We believe in editing and sorting first, then choosing containers and products based on what you actually need.
Move Management and Senior Transitions
-
The earlier we can be involved, the better. Starting several weeks before the move allows time to thoughtfully plan the transition, sort and edit belongings, coordinate services, and prepare for moving day. However, we understand that moves don't always happen on an ideal timeline and can also assist with last-minute moves.
-
Absolutely. Senior Move Management can be especially valuable when family members live out of the area or have limited time available. With the client’s authorization, RoomWorks can provide local coordination and communicate with family members, caregivers, fiduciaries, senior living staff, movers, and other professionals involved in the transition.
Family involvement can be as much or as little as you prefer. Some families want to be involved in every decision, while others appreciate having a trusted local professional manage the details and keep them informed throughout the process.
-
Moving from a longtime home can be emotional and overwhelming and they don’t have to do it alone! . RoomWorks meets each client where they are, providing patient, respectful, and judgment-free support throughout the process. We can work alongside a senior to sort, edit, categorize, and make decisions, or provide more hands-on assistance when needed. We break the process into manageable steps while respecting each client’s choices, memories, and belongings, helping the transition feel more organized and manageable.
-
Yes. We can help determine what belongings are appropriate for the new space and create a plan for what will be moved, donated, given to family, disposed of, or placed in storage. We can also help organize the new home so that frequently used items are accessible and the space is comfortable and functional.
-
A moving company primarily handles the physical transportation of belongings. Senior Move Management takes a broader approach to the transition. RoomWorks can help plan and coordinate the move, organize and edit belongings, prepare items for packing, coordinate with movers and other professionals, and assist with donations. Once belongings arrive at the new residence, we can unpack, organize closets and cabinets, set up everyday essentials, and create practical systems that make the new home easier to use and maintain. Our goal is to help each client feel settled—not simply surrounded by boxes.
-
RoomWorks can help sort belongings into categories such as family, donation, disposal, or storage. Depending on the scope of the project, we can also coordinate or provide donation drop-off services and help with the final clear-out of the home.
-
RoomWorks does not conduct or manage estate sales directly. However, we can help you sort and organize belongings and identify items that may be appropriate for sale, donation, family distribution, recycling, or disposal. When appropriate, we can also help coordinate with other professionals who specialize in estate sales or the sale of specific items.
-
Yes. Settling into a new home can take time. RoomWorks can provide additional organizing or maintenance services after the move to help the client adjust to the new space and keep belongings organized and accessible.
